Original London Cast. While the reviews I read of the show commented on the poor dialogue or rather trite plot, none of them had anything bad to say about the music, so this may be one of those shows that comes across better on CD than it does live. And surely that has a great deal to do with the fact that the music is familiar even if you haven’t seen the show. The album plays as almost a “Queen’s greatest hits”, sung by other people. There are bits of dialogue included to give some context, but it’s rather difficult to get much idea of the story from the recording. Still, the cast sings their hearts out, and the recording is fun to listen to. If you’re a Queen fan, you’ll certainly enjoy it, and even if you’re not, I’d give it a chance! |
