The film version of Whistle Down the Wind was released in 1961. Like the novel it’s based on, it tells the story of some Yorkshire farm children, who discover an escaped convict hiding in a barn and believe him to be Jesus. It was directed by Bryan Forbes and starred Hayley Mills as Kathy and Alan Bates as The Man. It was nominated for 4 BAFTA Film Awards. The movie is available on VHS and DVD.
