 Maria Vittoria has fallen in love with her German tutor, Daniel, recently made a bishop of the Catholic Church. They are married and Daniel takes Maria back to his family home in Heidelberg where she meets Anna Regina, his possessive elder sister.  Which Witch is loosely adapted from an incident in the “Malleus Maleficarum”, a 1487 book about witchcraft. It was meant to be an instruction manuel on the hunting and prosecution of witches, and was used as a comprehensive authority in witchcraft trials throughout Europe.
