Urinetown has no source material, other than Greg Kotis’ experience with pay toilets in Europe. 🙂 The show debuted at the Fringe Festival, which is not where most Broadway shows start, but it has gone on to national, and now international, success! Read more about the development of the musical.

I wanted to see this show before the Tonys, so I went! It was pretty much everything I was expecting it to be – which means that I enjoyed it quite a bit! I’ve since seen the Toronto production as well, which, truth be told, I enjoyed even more! Read some more about my experiences with the show.
