November 29: Sorry to leave you all in such suspense after my last entry. 🙂 The news is, we have been sold (or, at least, some of us have), and so, as of January 1, I’ll be working for a different company. I’m really rather indifferent to the change, except that we have a ton of “special projects” to be done before that time, so everybody is stressed and in a bad mood and work is just not very much fun at the moment. On a much happier note, my house is entirely decorated for Christmas now! We have the tree up (with presents under it already), a few lights outside, and lots of other little things up all over the place. I am beginning the three-day process of making my gingerbread house tonight. On Saturday night I am going skating for the first time this year (I can’t wait!!), and I’ve bought all my supplies for my chocolate making as well. Now if it would only snow, I’d feel pretty much completely ready! Except for shopping, of course. 🙂 I’m not close to being done. Although, I do know what I want to get for most people – I just have to go out and buy it now. I still haven’t decided on a gift for my mother though. I’ve bought her several smaller things, but I need one big gift to go under the tree, and I’m stumped. Any ideas? November 21: The office is buzzing today, because the topic of speculation for weeks is finally going to be addressed tomorrow. Which is a round-about way of saying that the company’s been sold, and we may all be out of jobs. 🙂 However, most people are more excited than worried, at the possibility that we may be offered severance packages. Now, I don’t really care either way. It’s a decent job that I don’t necessarily want to lose, but then, maybe this is the kick in the butt I need. And a package (they’re saying maybe the equivalent of one month’s pay), would be very nice. But we’ll have to wait and see! I have been playing Christmas music at work all week. I think the people who sit around me think that I’m nuts. I have finished my Christmas cards and will be mailing them next week! I am so on top of things, it’s scary. 🙂 The VCR at my house has decided to stop working. Which is very sad. Particularly when I really wanted to tape the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade tomorrow. Or Douglas on Will & Grace last week (how fun was that, anyway?). Anyway, just random thoughts…nobody’s getting any work done here, so I thought I’d join in. 🙂 November 17: I’ve always meant to do a Christmas theme, and I always put it off until it’s not worthwhile, so this year I’m doing it nice and early. 🙂 Work is crazy busy lately. It’s good, in a way, ’cause I don’t get bored, but it’s also stressful. So what am I doing on a Saturday to relax? Sitting here at work. Yearh, that makes sense. My main reason for writing, though, is to share this picture, which makes me smile just looking at it. Maybe it’ll brighten your day too. 🙂 ![]() November 14: New York. It’s a hell of a town. Our final show schedule ended up pretty much as below, except that Kiss Me, Kate wasn’t up at TKTS, so we went to Forbidden Broadway instead. Oh, and Alison saw Music Man Friday night and Noises Off Saturday afternoon, so I went to By Jeeves by myself. But other than that, it all went as planned. 😉 Let’s see, highlights…Joey McIntyre was really good in TTB, and I got a picture with him after – yay! By Jeeves was lots of fun, as was Rocky Horror, if ever so strange as well. I met Michael Lewis! I talked to Terrence Mann! I got a picture with the guy who used to play Sergei on Another World. 🙂 And the Producers is a highlight by itself – Roger Bart kills me. Other than that, things are pretty quiet around here, other than being really, really busy at work. I’m going to get my pictures developed today, and hopefully I’ll have them scanned in the next couple of days, so you can all share in the fun. 🙂 November 8: Let me relate to you the saga of choosing which shows to see in New York this weekend. The idea for the trip came about because we heard that Douglas Sills was doing Assassins. Douglas in New York = trip for me. So I planned to see Assassins, Rocky Horror (because Terrence was in it), Beauty and the Beast (because Bryan was in it) and The Producers. Then, after Sept. 11, Rocky Horror closed and Assassins was cancelled. However, at that time I found out that Joey McIntyre would be in Tick Tick Boom at the time we were going, and that By Jeeves was opening just prior. So there was again four. But then it turned out Rocky Horror would be reopening, so I bumped BatB, and went back to Rocky Horror. So that settled that. The plan was: TTB for me Friday night (Noises Off for Alison), Producers and By Jeeves Saturday, Rocky Horror Sunday. Then, we found out Nathan Lane wouldn’t be doing Saturday matinees anymore. So The Producers had to move to Sunday, and Rocky Horror to Saturday. But, Rocky Horror doesn’t have a Saturday matinee. So we were going to do By Jeeves matinee and RHS at 9:45. But then, we realized that by going to the earlier showing of RHS, we could see By Jeeves in the evening, AND see another show for the matinee. I decided I’d like to see Noises Off with the extra show, so Alison said she’d go with me to that on Saturday and see something else Friday. However, Patti LuPone will be out of Noises Off on Saturday. Since she’s a major reason I want to see the show, I decided to nix that plan, and Alison went back to putting it in her Friday night slot. So then I decided I could bring back Beauty and the Beast, now that there was the extra slot. But, it has just turned out (right this moment) that Bryan will be out of the show all weekend. SO! The plan, at this moment, is TTB, Kiss Me Kate, RHS, By Jeeves and The Producers. But who knows what could happen between now and then? November 5: Alright, so now that I’ve built up the suspense, my surprise regarding my website is merely this – I have a domain name now! It’s www.theatre-musical.com. Of course, for me, the exciting part is not having the name, but being able to get rid of those annoying ads. I am in the (long) process of moving the pages over, but you will notice at least on the main page that it is ad-free! Yay! This weekend is New York. Finally! It feels like absolute ages since I’ve been, even though it was just in May. I *love* the video postcard Karen and Gill sent me from the Times Square Visitor Centre this weekend – I can see myself having a lot of fun with that particular feature. 🙂 There are lots of things I’m looking forward to this weekend, but one of the big ones is seeing Joe McIntyre on stage. It was ELEVEN years ago this weekend that I last saw him on stage, under very different circumstances. 🙂 I really hope we get to talk to him, that would be so cool. They finally showed some of the dance competition from Skate America on TV, and I love Shae-Lynn and Victor’s free dance, and Tanith and Ben’s too! I can’t wait for the Olympics! I have such an obsession with the Winter Olympics. I have like 3 videotapes full of each of the past 4 Winter Games. In 1992, I actually missed my school ski trip to stay home and watch the men’s short program. And cried, of course. 🙂 |
