I’ve got a little bit of time while the pastry for my eclairs is baking, so I thought I better do a quick update in here. I don’t know why, but I’ve been online very little lately. Perhaps it’s been the terrible heat and humidity? Thankfully my apartment actually didn’t get too uncomfortable, so hopefully that will keep up for the rest of the summer.
I’ve spent a bit of time this week thinking about where I was a year ago, and the awful mess that my life was in, and feeling pretty lucky to be where I am at the moment. 🙂 I am *much* happier than I was then. Hopefully my mother will be saying the same thing at this time next year. The house *did* sell, after a last-minute drama by a certain someone who specializes in those things, but now the perfect house that she had to move into has sold to another buyer, so she needs to find a new place to rent. And because of the time it took to get all of this settled, she probably can’t move into any new place until the end of July – when she will actually be here in Toronto with me. *sigh* Nothing can ever be easy!
Other than that fact, we are both starting to get pretty excited about our trip through the States! Only 34 more days! 🙂 And hopefully the exchange rate will stay at its current level, which would save me more than $100 in hotel costs from what I had originally budgeted!
Between now and then, I’ve got a few little things to look forward to. July 26th is our company barbecue and softball game (which is actually in Mississauga, so I haven’t decided 100% if I’m going or not), July 23rd is our company picnic, July 17th is a volleyball tournament that I’m playing in (don’t laugh!), July 11th is my auto insurance exam, July 1 is Canada Day, of course, and tonight, a bunch of us from work are going out to a club downtown, and then maybe to check out some of the Pride festivities.
This past Thursday, we had another company function, where an accounting firm that we use rented out the Windows restaurant at Skydome during the Jays game. It was pretty cool! There was this fabulous buffet, and an open bar, which means free food and free drinks! What could be better?! 🙂 Susan and I bothered the bartender all night with unusual drink requests, and had about three different plates full of dinner, and generally made pigs of ourselves (as usual!). But it was fun! Going to work the next morning was not as much fun.
Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the weekend, and Happy Canada Day, since I probably won’t write again before then!
