Merry Christmas everybody!!!
As you’ve probably guessed, I’m back at home, after a *long* trip back. I was supposed to leave Ottawa at 7 a.m. EST and get to Edmonton at 10:45 a.m. MST. Well, we were all on the plane in Ottawa at 7…then it took an hour to de-ice the plane, an hour in the air, and an hour upon landing to reach the terminal (it was a little slippery). So I missed my connection and they re-booked me for the 1 p.m. flight. However, at about noon, they decided they were closing Toronto airport for a few hours!!! So I ended up sitting in the airport for five hours, and *finally* got into Edmonton at 5:30. Only seven hours late. *sigh*
So because of that, I didn’t get to go see a movie (I wanted to see Prince of Egypt)…we ended up just coming home. And I’ve spent the last couple of days doing mega Christmas baking (including my gingerbread house, which finally had to go roofless on one room, ’cause it just wouldn’t stay!!), and wrapping presents and stuff. Last night was Christmas mass, of course, and this morning we opened all our gifts!
I got some cool stuff…a theatre and a lamppost for my Christmas town, a book from my grandmother, about the prairies, with some *beautiful* paintings in it, a watch from my parents (who were a little upset ’cause I got a watch from Margie too…oops! :-), a purse/organizer thing, a piano book called “On Broadway”, and several smaller things. Oh, and I got a new black dress from Santa, but my mom bought it a couple of months ago, and it’s too big now, so she’s going to send it back. We don’t know what I’ll get instead. I suggested she finance a ski trip to Battleford for me and my little brother later this week…I’ve been promising to take him skiing for years. Oh, and there’s one more gift I haven’t opened…I’ve figured out that it’s two movies, but I don’t know which. It’d be a pretty safe guess that they either have Leonardo DiCaprio or Tom Cruise in them though. 🙂
So I’ve enjoyed being home so far…besides the occasional self-pity session because I’m not in New York. 🙂 I went out shopping yesterday and ran into way too many people that I know…you can tell you’re from a small town when… 🙂 But my mom and I have been doing lots of stuff together, and I’m helping my little brother build his first webpage, and all in all, it’s been relaxing and I know the next week is going to go *way* too fast.
Anyway, it’s almost time for brunch, so I should go see who needs help. I hope you all had a great Christmas too!!!
