Quote of the day:”It did reflect a little bit…”

“Oh my God! Should I take it off?”

–Regan and Tim, discussing his coat in our pictures 🙂

Well, I’m back from the wonderful world of Les Mis…I swear, that production is just one of the best of *any* show that’s running right now. Alison and I went to see it twice, and each time we picked out new things we hadn’t noticed before…particularly from Stephen Bishop, who is an absolute nut as Grantaire. 🙂 And, despite our concerns, Colm did both performances, which was wonderful! And, most importantly for me (:-), Regan and Tim were there for both shows as well. Actually, we had the full cast for both shows…not a single understudy! I think that’s got to be pretty rare! Plus, the new Enjolras, Matthew Shepherd, is *wonderful*! I was really pleased with him.

Also while we were in the city, we sat down and watched the Pirates of Penzance movie, starring a young and hairy Rex Smith. 🙂 Oh my goodness! It was too funny!! I mean, it’s meant to be funny, but I think we found it an awful lot funnier than it actually is. 🙂 Alison wrote down some of the funnier passages, which will be on her page shortly, but it was just Rex’s facial expressions and his clothes and everything. Oh, and Kevin Kline was hilarious, which should come as no real surprise. All in all, it’s a pretty pathetic movie, but if you’re looking for a good laugh, go rent it! 🙂

I did feel pretty guilty the entire time we were in Toronto though, because I didn’t go see Phantom! This is the first time I have EVER spent the night in Toronto and not gone to see the show. I do have justification for it…tickets to Les Mis were $20, and we would have had to pay AT LEAST $30 for Phantom (that’s with the coupon), and those would be the very back of the balcony. At Les Mis we were sitting in the orchestra boxes! Plus, I have seen Peter, Elizabeth and David in the show before. But I still felt bad. Especially when our bus drove by the Pantages on the way out of the city. I need to go see Phantom again sometime soon.

I gave Tim a copy of The Stage Door, and he read the whole thing!! I mean, I *know* he did, because I made some comment about Michael Ball’s new CD, and he immediately made some comment about the newsletter, and since we reviewed the CD in the newsletter, I’m assuming that’s where the connection came from! And he said he really enjoyed it! I’m so happy. I was very nervous about him reading my article about him, but he told me that my writing is really good!! That ranks right up there on my list of highest compliments ever received. 🙂

Other stuff that’s going on…I got called back for Little Shop of Horrors! Woo hoo!! I’m really happy about that. So I have to go back on Sunday, and it’s an all-day workshop-type thing, and then I’ll find out after that if I get in or not. So I guess my audition really did go okay! I’m thinking that my dancing was a lot more impressive than my singing, but as long as I got called back, who cares, right? So wish me luck!!

Also, I had my tap class last night, and my instructor hands me this program for the recital and tells me to read it really closely. So I’m looking through it, and then I go, “Tanya…I have a solo in here.” And she’s like, “Yup, you do!” 🙂 So apparently I’m doing a tap solo! To Michael Ball’s “Blues Brothers Medley”. She’s even got my costume picked out already! It should be a lot of fun. We also worked a little bit on our Anthony duet, and it’s going to look really good, I think.

Anyway, I really ought to get back to studying…exams are less than a week away! Aaaahhh!! But now that I’ve had my fun couple of days off, I really should get down to business. I have to work tonight, and then that’s probably the last time I’ll work before Christmas. School first!

Until next time…
