I Am What I Am

Date: April 6, 2000

Time: 1:00 p.m.

Most recently listened to: The Scarlet Pimpernel

Going to do after this: Go to my last university class ever!!!

So it’s April and it’s snowing out. Strange. I don’t mind, actually … I’d much rather have it snowing than raining. I hate the rain.

The big news of the week is that I’m on a commercial! 🙂 Last May I was interviewed at the Minskoff about Pimpernel, and now apparently they’ve used two of my clips in a commercial for the show that’s playing in Los Angeles! It’s kinda weird. 🙂 I just found out exactly what I said though. In one of the clips I’m talking about the love triangle and how it involves you emotionally in the show, and in the other I talk about how anybody would love that show, from little kids to grandparents. 🙂 I’m hopefully getting a copy of it, and I’m both scared and excited to see it. 🙂 Kel and Marsha are also on it, which is really cool!

The production of The Overcoat that I went to last week was really interesting. It’s not a typical play – it’s all set to music, but there’s no singing or talking! It’s almost like a ballet, except they’re not dancing, just acting. I loved the moving set pieces, and some of the choreographed numbers were really cool. Afterwards we had a very nice little party and then joined the cast for their party for a while. It was a fun night!

I’ve been applying for a lot of jobs lately, both temporary and permanent ones. I have an interview with a temp agency here in Ottawa, but I haven’t heard back from any of the permanent ones yet. I’m mostly just applying in New York, because that’s really where I want to be. Hopefully something will turn up soon!

I watched the PBS ALW showcase last night, of course. I actually really enjoyed the Joseph video! I think it’s better than the Cats one. Although Maria Friedman doesn’t really have enough of a belting voice for the Narrator. I was kind of surprised that they kept the stage costumes for the Potiphar and Pharaoh scenes – I always thought they were awfully skimpy! But overall it was really fun. And seeing Donny Osmond and ALW in the Ford Center made me nostalgic for Ragtime, if you can believe it!! 🙂

Anyway, I have to go buy my ticket for my grad banquet, which is tomorrow night! 🙂 And go to my class, of course. We’re just watching a movie today, so hopefully it won’t be too bad. Have a great weekend everyone!
