Going to do after this: Go to the grocery store, buy ingredients for fudge and then go to the movies tonight

Alright, will someone *please* light some kind of fire under my butt? I can NOT seem to motivate myself. I have this essay due on Monday, that I’ve known about since September, and how much do I have written? A page. And I don’t even want to work on it. Ugh.

Good news is that Melanie is alive. 🙂 I was worried for a while. But turns out she’s just been busy. Yes, I overreact. But I bet she appreciated the frantic message on her answering maching. :-p

Bad news is that I’m getting really, really discouraged about my chances of moving to the States. There was a job I really, really wanted, and I was really qualified for, and they sent me a letter saying that yes, I was qualified, but they didn’t want to put the effort into getting me a visa. If I’d like to do an unpaid internship though, I should let them know. It just seems SO unfair to me. I JUST WANT TO GO TO NEW YORK! It shouldn’t be this difficult. I’m beginning to think there really is merit in the idea of finding a random American to marry me.

I’m going to make fudge tomorrow! It was going to be Easter chocolates, but they ran out of Easter molds at the store. (Am I the only one who thinks that’s a little odd?) So I’m gonna make fudge instead. I’ve never made fudge before. It should be fun. It should also help me not work on my essay some more.

Last night Laurie and I and her sister went to see a singer by the name of Andrea Florian give a little concert at a café here in Ottawa. I actually really enjoyed it. Not totally my type of music, but she had a really good voice, and I just liked watching her play the guitar. I’ve decided I should learn. 🙂

Tonight I’m going to see American Beauty and Being John Malkovich at the double-bill theatre here in Ottawa. They’re both movies I’ve been wanting to see for a while, and I’m really hoping that American Beauty will inspire me with my essay. Because I’ve heard it’s kind of about the end of history and all that (well, they don’t know that’s what it’s about, but that’s what it’s about :-). If anyone has any theories of their own about an age of empires before reaching the universal and homogenous state, please feel free to email me.

And now, I *really* need to stop procrastinating. Oh, and say yay to Kel on her recent Brent Carver obsession. Brent obsession is a Very Good Thing. Have a good weekend!
