Only in the Movies – Kiss of the Spider Woman

Kiss of The Spider Woman opened at the St. Lawrence Centre in Toronto in 1992, playing from June – August, and then went on to London, opening at the Shaftesbury Theatre on October 20, 1992, and winning the 1992 London Evening Standard Drama Award for Best Musical.

The Broadway premiere was May 3, 1993 at the Broadhurst Theatre, and the show won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Score, as well as acting awards for Brent Carver, Chita Rivera and Anthony Crivello. It ran for 906 performances in New York, and closed on July 1, 1995.

Since then, the show has been performed in many countries around the world, including Austria, Japan, Argentina and Brazil, and can also be seen in regional theatres.
