Original London Cast. There are three things that make this recording absolutely essential to own: the cast, the cast, and the cast. Brent Carver, Anthony Crivello and Chita Rivera are just outstanding!! As my friend Alison put it, this is Kiss of the Spider Woman the way it *should* sound. 🙂 I simply can’t say enough good things about this recording (which is often the case when Brent Carver is involved… coincidence? :-). New Broadway Cast. The most obvious advantage to this recording is that it’s more complete than the London cast. And considering what this cast had to live up to in the Tony-winning performances of the previous cast, they really do an admirable job. Brian Stokes Mitchell and Vanessa Williams are great, and Howard McGillan puts his own spin on Molina. There’s more of the spoken dialogue included, so you get to follow the story a bit more. I would really suggest owning them both! |
