Rebecca Luker. Can this woman ever sing a bad note? If so, I haven’t heard it yet. And she is as lovely here as Magnolia as she always is, with a sweetness and purity of voice that match the character perfectly. She is one of those sopranos that doesn’t sound strained, and is just enjoyable to listen to. For more, visit the Rebecca Luker Website. |
Michel Bell. His rendition of “Ol’ Man River” is easily one of my favourite things about the Canadian cast recording, and every time he opens his mouth it is memorable. I was lucky enough to see him perform in The Civil War, and when he sang those low notes, I swear the seats vibrated! 🙂 He is just amazing. Visit Michel Bell – Bass/Baritone to learn more. | ![]() |

Terry Burrell. She played Julie in the production I saw, and went on to play the part in the London revival as well. She has a beautiful voice, and an easy way of conveying emotion, and her version of “Bill” was very touching. |
Eddie Korbich. While working on Seussical, Eddie mentioned to me that he had been in Show Boat in Ottawa. Me: “Oh, I saw that production!” Him: “So do you remember me?” Me: “Ummmmmm…” However, when he told me that he had played Frank, then it all came flooding back! 🙂 He is a real presence on stage, and a wonderfully gifted character actor. I guarantee, if you see him in something, you won’t forget him! 🙂 |

Doug LaBrecque. I never saw or heard Doug in this show, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say that he was great. 😉 He played Steve in the Canadian and Broadway casts, and was also seen as Ravenal in New York. I was so disappointed when I bought the cast recording, which lists him as “featured”, and then he doesn’t have a solo line on it!
