
The original Broadway production of Pippin opened October 23, 1972 at the Imperial Theatre in New York, and eventually moved to the Minskoff Theatre before closing on June 12, 1977. The
production received 11 Tony nominations, and won 5 Awards, including Best Actor (Ben Vereen).
The show opened in London at Her Majesty’s Theatre on October 30, 1973 and ran for 85 performances. A Melbourne production played Her Majesty’s Theatre in 1974.
In 1981, a video version was released, which is now available on DVD.
