Michael Ball. I just adore this man in everything he’s ever done, and I was very curious about his Giorgio. I thought perhaps the role was a bit too dark for him. But he did it perfectly. For more information about this fabulous performer, please visit my Michael page, which has links to other great sites. |
Jere Shea. I had never really heard of him before this, but his performance as Giorgio has sparked an interest in his other work as well. He really managed to capture the mixed feelings that Giorgio has for Fosca, so that the audience didn’t hate him when he did some of the more cruel things he does. I thought it was great! |

Donna Murphy. This woman is *phenomenal* as Fosca. It is not the most forgiving role, but she manages to earn the audience’s sympathy and respect, without ever appearing to be asking for it. She also has a lovely voice, though it’s not always in evidence in this role. 🙂 For more about Donna, check out this biography. |
Marin Mazzie. Another performer that I love in pretty much everything she does, Marin makes a great Clara as well. I simply adore her voice, and though the audience isn’t necessarily supposed to side with Clara, you can’t help but feeling sorry for her too. For more, visit Marin Mazzie Online. | ![]() |

Maria Friedman. It took a little while for her Fosca to grow on me. She seems a little more crazy, or mentally unbalanced, shall we say, than Donna did. But I have come to like her interpretation quite a bit! For much more, check out About Maria: The Maria Friedman Website. |
Gregg Edelman. He didn’t have the biggest part in the show, but as usual, he did his part wonderfully. He’s just a fabulous performer all around! |
