Original Cast Recording. There are two words that explain why you should own this CD: Julie Andrews. 🙂 She is wonderful as Eliza, and without any of the shrillness that tends to creep into some other actors’ renditions of these songs. Rex Harrison can’t sing, but he is great at speaking musically. 🙂 Overall, it’s a wonderful recording of the show as it was meant to be. |

London Revival Cast Recording. One of the most challenging things in reviving any well-loved show is to try to find a new take on the characters, and this cast succeeds quite admirable. Jonathan Pryce in particular is wonderful as Higgins, with just enough of a twist in his delivery to keep you guessing. I’m not all that fond of the orchestrations in a few places, but overall this CD is more than worth the purchase for any My Fair Lady fan. |
