Broadway Revival Cast. This recording does a great job at capturing the energy of this cast and this entire production. Craig Bierko and Rebecca Luker really stand out, and all of the supporting cast are very enjoyable to listen to as well. The ensemble numbers are fantastic. The orchestrations are great, and this is the most complete recording of the show that exists. If you’re going to get a recording of this show, I’d say this is the one to get! |

TV Movie Soundtrack. I was really excited about this movie version, as I love most of the cast, but unfortunately it just didn’t quite work in the end. However, I enjoy the CD more than I did the movie. The orchestrations aren’t as strong as the Broadway revival recording, but the cast sounds good. Kristin Chenoweth in particular, with her beautiful voice, comes across very well on the recording. So whether you saw the movie version or not, this recording makes a nice addition to your collection, but I would recommend the Broadway revival before this one. |
