I think this book may be out of print, since I haven’t had any luck finding it. That also means I can’t offer much of a review of it! What I can tell you is that the novel is set in the 1920s, and follows the story of Ernest Rowbotham, a quiet English schoolmaster. He finds out that he stands to inherit a fortune from an American uncle that he’s never met, as long as he takes the corpse on vacation. This he does, followed by gangsters who are also after the money. Several historical figures like Jean Cocteau and Maurice Chevalier also make an appearance in Monaco, as the improbable but entertaining plot unfolds. |
