Off-Broadway Cast. If you’re only familiar with the film, you’ll find a few extra songs on this recording which don’t appear in the movie. That’s just one reason to buy this recording – the others are the great cast, and the score itself. The songs are so fun, and the lyrics are very clever. Ellen Greene is particularly great, and her version of “Somewhere that’s Green” is just perfect. Lee Wilkof is a good Seymour and Ron Taylor is amazing as Audrey II. |

New Broadway Cast. If the producers of this recording set out to create a definitive recording, it appears they succeeded. With all of the smaller bits of the show that were left off the original recording, plus 5 “bonus” songs that were cut from the show at various stages, this is by far the most complete recording you could own. On top of that, the songs from the show are performed by a wonderful, talented cast that live up to, if not surpass, the original (except perhaps for Kerry Butler as Audrey – it’s pretty hard to top Ellen Greene in that role). If you’re a fan of this show, you can’t afford to miss this recording, and if you’re a new fan and only going to buy one, this is the one to get. |
