Original Broadway Cast. I was mostly curious to get this CD to hear the new music that had been added to the show from the movie, and I have to say I’m pretty divided on it. I really enjoy songs like “They Live in You” and “Endless Night”, but others like “Chow Down” just annoy me. However, the cast is very good, and overall the recording is enjoyable, though to be totally honest, in the grand scheme of things, I probably prefer the movie soundtrack! |

Original Hamburg Cast. Since I don’t listen to the Broadway recording that much, I wasn’t expecting a lot from the German recording, but it’s a very good recording in general. I enjoy the cast, though perhaps not quite as much as the Broadway cast. The trend with Disney shows seems to be that the music sounds very similar on all the cast recordings (ie. Beauty and the Beast), and this is no exception – without the language and cast differences, it’s very, very similar to the Broadway recording! |
