Patti LuPone. She is my favourite recorded Fantine. Her voice always conveys so much emotion, and I know from everything else that she’s done that her acting is wonderful as well. I would have loved to have seen her in this role. Please visit the Official Patti LuPone Website for more information about Patti. |

Lisa Capps. One of my favourite live Fantines!! Her voice was just beautiful. And I don’t think there was a person in the house who wasn’t moved by her “Come to Me”. |
Susan Gilmour. My other favourite live Fantine. 🙂 She has such a gorgeous voice, and she just looks like Fantine! (Of course, that might be because she was the first one I ever saw sing “I Dreamed a Dream”, on TV :-). Her acting in Lovely Ladies especially is wonderful, and she’s moved me to tears! |

Frances Ruffelle. She is easily my favourite recorded Eponine. The emotion she puts into her singing, along with her wonderful, distinctive voice make the character truly come alive. Her version of “On My Own” on the Broadway Cast recording remains my absolute favourite. Find more about Frances at the Official Frances Ruffelle Website. |
Jessica-Snow Wilson. I’ve seen her a number of times as Eponine, and though the contrast of her voice to the more classically-trained ones around her struck me as odd at first, I’ve come to adore her voice and her interpretation of the role. I can’t count the number of times she’s made me cry! 🙂 |
