Well, it didn’t make much sense for me to fly all the way to Australia to see Anthony Warlow, and then to only see him once! So we had tickets for the next night as well. (We had actually tried to get tickets for the following night, April 6, too, but that was the official press opening, so there were none available).
I guess I should point out that both the performances that we saw were doing the first week of performances, so perhaps by the time the show was more settled into its run, it produced that overall effect that was missing when we went.
Anyway, we were up in the balcony this time, in the 4th row, and I have to say that the balcony seats in the Regent Theatre are the most comfortable seats I have ever had in a theatre. Just so you know. 🙂 They were leather and huge, with these nice double armrests – I could have gone to sleep! At least, I could have
if Anthony Warlow hadn’t been on stage. 🙂
It was nice to see the show from a different angle – there
were some lighting effects that we hadn’t seen from
down close, like a chessboard pattern on the floor when Don Quixote’s family is plotting how to get him back and improve their own situations, and Cervantes is moving them around on the chessboard like pawns.
The cast was wonderful again, and I enjoyed the evening, but I have to admit, I was sort of just as glad that we hadn’t been able to get tickets for a third night!
