The Full Monty opened at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego before settling in for its Broadway run at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, where it began previews on September 25, 2000 and officially opened on October 26, 2000. The show was nominated for an amazing 10 Tony Awards (Best Musical, Book, Score, Actor, Featured Actor (2), Featured Actress, Choreography, Direction and Orchestrations), none of which it was able to take home (all of them went to The Producers). This production closed on September 1, 2002.
A North American tour began in Toronto in June 2001, and is currently on the road (details can be found on the official site). The first translated version of the show played in Barcelona in 2001. The London production opened on March 12, 2002 at the Prince of Wales Theatre and closed on November 23, 2002. An Australian production opened in Melbourne on December 31, 2003 and moves to Sydney in March of 2004. |
