Well, I had to wait almost a year to see the show again, but there was never really much doubt that I would go again eventually – I had enjoyed it far too much to let it go at one viewing! 🙂
There were about an equal number of people in the cast who were the same from last year and those that were new. Primary among the new people was the alternate Elisabeth that we saw, Kristin Hölck. I really, really enjoyed her performance. I think Pia will always *be* Elisabeth to me, but Kristin did a marvellous job. She has a lovely voice, and I was really impressed with how she gave the appearance of aging throughout the show, even though they really didn’t do that much to her physical appearance. I am thrilled that I got to see her do the part, and have absolutely no complaints! |
I missed Uwe Kröger the first time I went, and I missed him again this time! However, we had the same der Tod as last summer, Jesper Tydén, and if anything, he was even better than he was last year. He has such a presence on stage, and as der Tod seems to exude control over everything around him. He was a little more rough with Elisabeth than I remembered him being at some points, but I liked that side of it. He also has a really amazing voice, and I loved the way he improvised the phrases at the end of some of the songs, particularly Der Letzte Tanz. I am looking forward to seeing him in many more shows!
The rest of the cast was really great as well! I must mention in particular Carsten Lepper, who is so funny at times, even though I have no idea what he’s saying. Also, Gabriele Ramm as Sophie is really perfect. I sure wouldn’t want to have her for a mother-in-law! 🙂 |

The only thing that caught my attention as being different from last year was during Nichts, nichts, gar nichts…I remembered Pia exchanged her beautiful fan with the paper one that the mental patient had, and Kristin didn’t do that (or if she did, I missed it!). I thought it was a nice touch, and kind of missed it.
But all in all it was a really spectacular performance. It seems just as fresh and professional as last year, which can’t be said of all shows once they’re settled into their runs. Seeing the show for a second time only made me want to see it *again*! 🙂 |
