But basically, it’s the Cold War, and a Russian and an American are battling for the world chess championship, as well as for the pride of their countries.  Despite the title, this show really has very little to do with the game of chess. 🙂 However, if you’re interested, you can learn a little more about the game. The show has much more to do with the animosity between the United States and Russia in the period after the second World War until the fall of communism – take a quick look at the Cold War, or read about some of the history of the musical. |
