New Broadway Cast Recording. This CD has one major thing going for it – the cast. For the most part, they’re really fantastic, and do a great job of communicating the energy of the songs to the recording. There isn’t really a story to the show; each song is a self-contained story on its own, which also lends itself well to the CD format. The orchestrations are nice and simple (I wish they’d used these rather than the overbearing ones when I saw it on stage!). Overall, I don’t listen to it a lot, but I always enjoy it when I do. |
