Okay, so there's been more than one movie. But y'all know which one I'm talking about. :-)

I love this movie. And that is a major understatement. I drove an hour and a half to see it the night it came out, and what I saw exceeded my expectations (which were high to begin with!!). It is quite simply one of the best movies I have seen in ages.

So, what's so great about this movie? Well, to start off, it's about the Titanic, which is one of the most tragic and emotional stories of the century. Secondly, the plot is wonderful...the love story between Jack and Rose is a typical two-worlds-meet, there's no way they can be together but they fight for it, and then it's all taken away-type story. (whew! Did that make any sense? :-) But even though it's "typical", set against the backdrop of the tragedy of the Titanic it becomes much more powerful. See how this all fits together? And finally, the cast that makes this story come alive is just incredible. Everyone was absolutely perfect for his or her part. Special mentions must go to Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack, Kate Winslet as Rose, Billy Zane as Cal, Victor Garber as Andrews, and many, many others.

Now, what were my favourite parts of the movie? Well, I better keep this short or I will, as my friends can tell you, babble on for ages. I loved just about every scene Jack was in...what a great character. He had some of the best lines of the movie too!! I also loved the scene when Rose and her mother were having dinner with various first class passengers, including Bruce Ismay, and Rose made her comment about Freud. I don't want to go into too much detail, in case there's anyone out there who still hasn't seen this movie (imagine that!), but I'll just say that I really loved *almost* every scene.

My absolute favourite scene was near the end, where they're in the water and he's telling her how she has to survive. I can't even tell you the exact words because I was crying too much to remember them. :-) But that is one of the most moving scenes I have ever seen in any movie.

And yet, what makes the entire movie so moving is that it is not completely fiction. The Titanic was very real, as were all the people who really died upon it.

This is just a small section of my page devoted to the movie, but some people have made some really incredible sites about it. Please visit some of the links below!!

*** Nearer, My God to Thee -- I might be a bit biased, but it's my favourite :-)
